The vz. 83 is a Czechoslovakian submachine gun create as a smaller version of the Skorpion vz. 61, which was chamber in 7.62x51mm and designe in 1959 by Miroslav Rybar. The guns were originally designe for use by special forces but eventually saw use by the Czech Army, even seeing frequent use by lower-ranked staff such as vehicle drivers.
It’s a select- fire weapon that operates on straight blowback and fires with a closed bolt, and it’s made to create minimal recoil regardless of what it’s chambered in. But there is one Skorpion that surprises some people, and that’s the aforementioned vz. 83, because it was made for the .380 ACP round. The vz. 83 is capable of a rate of fire of 900 rounds per minute. Your own .380 ACP isn’t quite that fast, but it still has a hearty appetite, and with that in mind, take a look at these target rounds from Remington.
NOTE
These are 95 grain rounds, which are lightweight and within the standard size range for the cartridge. They’re Metal Case rounds, which are Remington’s version of Full Metal Jacket, so they don’t expand on impact. This ammunition is best for target practice, shooting drills, and plinking. Each round flies down-range with a muzzle velocity of 955 feet per second and hits with a muzzle energy of 190 foot-pounds. The .380 ACP performs at its best at closer ranges, and if you carry yours for self-defense, shot placement is something you need to master. Practicing at a variety of ranges to become accustomed to your gun’s capabilities as well as to hone your own skills is a good idea, and this target ammo can get you there.
